On May 9, the New York City Chapter of the Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) held a meeting to discuss the ever-evolving landscape of global mobility with a focus on AI and global mobility trends.
Here are some best practices that came out of the discussion on leveraging AI:
Implement AI for Administrative Tasks:
- Automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks.
- Tools like ChatGPT and Copilot can help create initial drafts, summarize meetings, and manage communication, freeing up time for more strategic work.
Ensure Data Privacy and Security
- Establish robust governance frameworks to manage data privacy and security, especially when using AI tools with sensitive information.
- Use ring-fenced AI models that are trained on secure, internal data to prevent exposure of confidential information.
Integrate AI with Human Oversight:
- Maintain a human-in-the-loop approach to ensure AI-generated content is accurate and contextually appropriate.
- Encourage employees to review and refine AI outputs, using the technology to enhance rather than replace human judgment.
Focus on Upskilling Employees:
- Provide training for employees on how to use AI tools effectively, ensuring they can leverage the technology to improve their productivity.
- Emphasize the importance of learning to work alongside AI to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving job market.
Implement Gradually:
- Start with pilot projects to test AI applications in specific areas of the business, gathering feedback and adjusting as needed.
- Gradually scale up AI integration, ensuring each step is aligned with the organization’s overall strategy and goals.
Monitor and Evaluate AI Impact:
- Continuously assess the impact of AI on business processes and employee performance, making data-driven adjustments to optimize outcomes.
- Stay informed about advancements in AI technology and best practices, adapting strategies to incorporate new developments.
By combining these best practices for AI, organizations can enhance their global mobility programs, improve operational efficiency, and better support their employees.
